In order for dentists to provide advanced, personalized, and comfortable dental care, they need to use state-of-the-art technology and treatments. At Stonebrook Family Dental, we understand that having the latest equipment is only part of the equation. Patients have to feel comfortable, too. Here is the technology you can expect to make your treatments accurate and more effective — all right here in Aurora, Colorado!

Technology in Dentistry

Through the advancement of technology in the dental field, we have been able to make appointments easier and less painful for the patients. Due to new technology, the way that dentists are able to treat patients — and the way patients can care for their own teeth at home — has been greatly impacted. The American Dental Education Association lists some of the greatest technological advancements in dentistry in recent years:

Smart Toothbrush

Our homes are filled with all sorts of smart devices — from our TVs to the kitchen and now even the bathroom, we use a wide array of technology on a daily basis. There are now toothbrushes on the market that have sensors in them to monitor our brushing habits and make sure that you are brushing your teeth properly. Further, smart toothbrushes also offer a learning opportunity to children, teaching them how to regularly and properly clean their teeth.

Digital Dentures

In the past, creating dentures would take multiple weeks and dentist appointments to get them made and fit to your mouth. However, now digital dentures offer a new system for creating precision-fitted dentures in a portion of the time. Computer-aided design and manufacturing have greatly simplified this process.

Teledentistry

Many people don’t want to visit the dentist for personal reasons. Those with disabilities, like the elderly or those with special needs, this is where teledentistry comes into play. Teledentistry means offering certain dental services over the internet to those who don’t have quick access to a dentist. This technology also helps patients who live in rural areas that don’t live close to a dental practice.

Intra-Oral Camera

In dentistry, one of the top complaints that patients have is being uncomfortable. With the intra-oral camera, we’re able to look inside a patient’s mouth using a dental mirror with a camera on it. The dentist can see the images taken by the camera on a screen outside of the patient’s mouth, eliminating this discomfort.

Technology at Stonebrook Family Dental

At Stonebrook Family Dental, we offer several state-of-the-art technology and services to make your appointment with us as simple and painless as possible. Here are just a few of the advanced technology we offer:

NOMAD Handheld X-ray Device

Digital X-rays are now faster and more comfortable with our handheld X-ray device. This helps us diagnose your oral health needs more accurately with high-resolution images. Additionally, it comes with up to 90% LESS radiation exposure than conventional X-rays. This technology also eliminates the need for chemical processing, which helps us care for the environment around us, too. Digital X-rays are faster and more efficient than their traditional counterparts.

Intra-Oral Camera

As it was briefly discussed above, we offer the intra-oral camera which is one of the most helpful tools in examining sectors of the teeth and mouth that are otherwise difficult to visualize. These images are sharp and detailed and allow our dentist, Dr. Varley, to thoroughly look through the patient’s needs. Further, Dr. Varley can also use these images to educate you as the patient on what is happening within your mouth.

The X-ray and Camera Together

Using both of these technologies mentioned above allows us to provide exceptional care to our patients at Stonebrook Family Dental. Dental X-rays are an essential diagnostic tool that allows our team to look inside your teeth and around the gums and jawbone. The intra-oral camera displays the condition of the outer enamel and soft tissues of the tongue, mouth, and gums. With digital technology, it is possible to see a single tooth at up to 50x it’s actual size. With images like this, our team can look for cavities, cracks, and other imperfections that traditional X-rays wouldn’t reveal. These images allow our team to show you exactly what we see. From here, we can explain to you what it means. You will now be an active participant in your dental exams.
